Fourche La Fave River, Nimrod Lake & Dam

Lots of beautiful farms and landscapes on our way.

Awesome day to travel. Excellent sunrise

Ever wonder where your eggs & chicken comes from? These are Chicken Houses. Hundreds  of chicks start their lives here, are raised to full-grown size, then the prime hens are made layers & the rest are shipped in cages to the plant where they are processed.

We stopped at Iron Springs along the way. Great place for a break and walk around.

Bear tracks by the Spring. Smaller tracks must be the cub.

A bridge into the wilderness.

This is a view of Nimrod Dam & Fourche La Fave River.

Pathway takes you up River to the Dam.

The Pathway is in the river valley.

From the Riverside you can also see the Lake.

You can walk right up to the Dam and touch it.

Usually this is really putting out the water. On our trip here, the Dam was shut down for repairs. Residents in this area said "never seen it down so low".

Just a little water from the Lake for area wildlife.

You can get up here on the side of the Dam to fish or site see.

Fishing below the base of the Dam.

Right of the Dam on top of the valley sits covered picnic tables.

You can see both sides of the Dam from here.

Or just watch the sunset.

This is not always closed. Most times you can walk across the top of Nimrod Dam. The other side has a small park and hiking trail.

View of Nimrod Dam from the Lake side.

Nimrod Lake

Fourche La Fave River

Great place to fish.

Watch the trees above that give you afternoon shade.

Many bobbers are ate up by these trees!

Early morning fog and sun compete on the river.

With the competition comes "Fog-nadoes"

Up close of a "Fog-nado" Little twisters caused by warm river temps. and cool air, combined with the fog and warming sun.

Lots of wildlife....

....SUNSHINE!!!

And natural landscapes.

Recently went went here to camp and fish. Of coarse my first day was spent walking and taking photographs. I walked approx. 20 miles that weekend, and took over 700 photos. If you are ever traveling in the Ouachita Highlands in west central Arkansas, this is a must see. They offer campsites, picnic areas, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and beautiful surroundings. Nimrod Lake is famous for the great crappie fishing. If you are just passing through and limited on time go to Nimrod Dam. It is the only one I know of that you can walk across the top. It will offer you a view on both the lake and river. We traveled from the Malvern area to get there. Lots to see on the way...
